After completing your flight dispatcher training and once you've earned your aircraft dispatcher certificate and are employed with a part 121 commercial airline, you will likely gain the ability to "Jump seat".
The jump seat is an extra seat in the flight deck of a commercial aircraft that other crew members or aircraft dispatchers can sit in, if all of the remaining seats in the cabin are full.
Jump seating is a fun, thrilling opportunity to observe pilots flying and also a great opportunity to learn a little more about the aircraft and what pilots need from dispatchers to help them succeed!
In addition, the FAA actually requires aircraft dispatchers to jump seat at least every year as part of the re-current aircraft dispatcher training process (which your airline employer provides)!
