Preparing For the FAA ADX Exam

As you do your research, learning about the FAA Requirements can seem overwhelming.  Don't stress!  If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out to us and we'll be happy to guide you along the way!

Preparing For the FAA ADX Exam

First Things First...

One of the requirements to earn your FAA Aircraft Dispatch Certificate is to pass the FAA ADX exam.  We've designed this page to provide you with some valuable tips in preparing for the ADX exam and how we assist you in accomplishing through our curriculum at North American Flight Control!

When To Take The FAA ADX Exam?

Some  schools require you to complete the ADX prior to arrival.  This can be challenging, especially when learning on your own.

At North American Flight Control, we do not require students to have the ADX completed prior to arrival as we cover the content through the curriculum.

Through our curriculum and using the Sheppard Air ADX test prep program, we usually encourage students to complete the ADX by the end of week 3 or week 4 of our 5 week program.

Where To Take the ADX Exam?

You'll be completing your FAA ADX Exam  at an FAA approved testing center.  PSI is the testing company that has been approved by the FAA to administer FAA written tests.  You can visit the PSI website here to learn more and find testing locations.

PSI currently charges $175 for the testing fee.

Seems simple doesn't it?

However studying cannot be overemphasized.  Prior to attending class, use the resources your school has provided you and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out with any questions you run into as you begin your studies.

Ask Questions

Take Studying Seriously

Look Closely How Questions Are Worded

Once you've established which dispatch school you'd like to attend, make sure you use them and their instructors as a resource and ask questions that you have as you study for your ADX Exam.

If the school you're attending doesn't wanted to answer your questions and requires you to complete the ADX prior to arrival, those may be red flags that you need to consider prior to enrolling.

Look Closely How Questions Are Worded

When we help students prepare for the FAA ADX Exam, one consistent theme we teach students is to look closely at the wording of the questions.

By no means is this rock science level difficulty, but take your time with each question and the wording to ensure you correctly understand what is being asked.

Much like a lot of things in aviation, this is a detailed oriented industry, so pay careful attention to the wording of questions and it will pay off!
